1952 Silver Streak Clipper. During the first few years after Silver Streak bought out Curtis Wright, their models changed little. Indeed they were virtually the same trailer that Wally Byam designed for Curtis Wright in 1947. Now that Byam was manufacturing trailers under the Airstream name, it was ironic that he was competing with his own design. This twenty-two foot Clipper is pulled by a 1949 Chevrolet five window cab. The truck has an original Firestone Car Cooler. Just add a little ice and the propulsion of the vehicle activates a fan, thus providing a refreshing cool breeze. Well, for the passenger, anyway. The Silver Streak and Chevrolet are owned by Phyllis and John Green. Photographed at the Silver Social in Calistoga, California.
