Chico, California. 1928. A white, picket fence neatly frames this Storybook cottage which evokes memories of Normandy's stuccoed farmhouses in rural France. Located in Eastwood Park, an enchanted enclave of over three dozen Storybook Style homes built by developer Orville Tracy between 1925 and 1929, each home was unique. Priced between $5000 and $9000, a substantial sum for the times, Tracy hoped to attract wealthy doctors and professors from the nearby hospital and Chico State University. The entire neighborhood has been included in Chico Heritage Association's survey of historic buildings.
