The unpretentious apartment interiors at Patio del Moro demonstrate the Zwebell’s overriding concern with livability. The tiled, horseshoe-arched fireplace is the focal point of this simple living room, and forms its only overtly decorative feature. The hardwood floor, stair rail, and ceiling beam are all quite plainly detailed for the period. In place of pretense, the Zwebells gave the room a generous view of the lush courtyard through the broad, round-arched window at right. The upstairs bedroom features a small balcony with an equally tranquil prospect.
